StarNet for Libraries has compiled suggestions for recycling solar eclipse glasses: What to do with extra and gently used eclipse glasses?? – STAR Net Community (starnetlibraries.org). They are also asking libraries to complete a post-eclipse survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CS73M8F. It asks questions about receiving and sharing glasses and conducting solar science programs. Please answer on behalf of your organizations as best as you can.

Exploring Careers in the Law Programs for high school students

The Michigan Supreme Court Learning Center is offering its annual Exploring Careers in the Law moot court programs for high school students (rising 10^th graders through 2024 graduates) in Lansing (June 24-28) and Detroit (July 26). The application can be downloaded from courts.mi.gov/learningcenter. The first page of the application can also be used as a flyer to display in your libraries or pass out to students. Rachael Drenovsky of the Michigan Supreme Court Learning Center is happy to answer any questions about the application or program at DrenovskyR@Courts.Mi.gov.

How to Incorporate Spanish Language Content into Your Summer Reading Program

Want to promote Summer Reading and Learning to Spanish speakers in your library community? The CSLP online manual has an entire section of Spanish Language program content that is available and ready to use for outreach and promotion for “Adventure Begins at Your Library” this summer! View the recently added recording of “How to Incorporate Spanish Language Content into Your Summer Reading Program” on the NY State Library archived Youth Services webinars page. This March Summer Reading Lunch and Learn session was presented by Deborah Kinirons, Bilingual Community Outreach Librarian at Uniondale Public Library, and Amy Olson, Youth Services Consultant at the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives. Deborah is also the chair of the CSLP Spanish Language manual committee.

We've crossed off a big thing on our wish list: GameRT now has a YouTube channel! We are currently working on uploading our past webinars and livestream events. There are currently 49 videos on the channel with more to be uploaded. For future events, we will also do simultaneous livestreams on Twitch and YouTube whenever possible.

We will continue livestreaming on Twitch because the platform is well within our niche for games programming, but we wanted to add YouTube because we recognize that some institutions block Twitch on work computers. This new viewing option makes our programming even more accessible to the community!

Spectaculars, special one day events where we gather several ALA round tables to explore popular media in different themes (Spooky, Super, and Queer so far!)
Mini Cons, one day miniature conferences that feature a series of short presentations on topics relevant to gaming in libraries (TTRPGs in 2023 and Building Character in 2024)
