Librarian 1 – Outreach Librarian – Full-time

The Public Libraries of Saginaw seeks an outgoing, creative and community-minded person to fill the newly created position of Outreach Librarian.  The Outreach Librarian is responsible for bringing the library into the community via the new bookmobile and community events, engaging and educating individuals and community groups to bring them into the library and recommending improvements to library services based on input from the community.  This position reports to the Library Director.

Experience and Qualifications

This role will be filled by a librarian with a MLS.  The successful candidate will have excellent customer service and communication skills, ability to learn and use new software, and comfort driving a large van.  A valid driver’s license in good standing is required.  Multilingual speakers with proficiency in Spanish preferred.

Schedule, Salary and Benefits

The standard work week is Tuesday through Saturday.  Candidate must have flexibility to work occasional evenings to attend events or bookmobile stops.

This is a full-time position.  Salary range $47,947 to $60,416 in six annual steps.  Generous benefits including health insurance, life insurance and pro-rated vacation, sick leave and personal business time.
