I should have explained the details better in my request. We are a district, trustees are appointed, not elected. The Superior District Library covers almost the entire Eastern Upper Peninsula, from Drummond Island in the east to Curtis in the west, Sault Ste. Marie to the north and Cedarville to the south. We have eight libraries throughout the district. We meet at all eight locations throughout the year. Some trustees are traveling up to three hours per meeting. We are only interested in mileage, not attendance reimbursement. The District Library Establishment Act only discusses getting paid for attending. I hope that is a better description of what we are looking for to come up with a fair plan for the board members expenses regarding traveling to meetings.
