Yes, we do have people scanning documents to attach them to emails. I think it's part of the not-so-new technology being widely adopted. Why fax to a dept. when you can email directly to a specific person? We do not charge for scanning as there are no materials costs involved (ink, fax line charges). ------------------ Donna Winter, Automation Services Librarian Livonia Civic Center Library 32777 Five Mile Road Livonia, MI 48154 ph: 734-466-2675 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kay Hurd" <khurd@adlmi.org> To: Michlib-l@mail.mcls.org Sent: Thursday, November 7, 2013 12:54:11 PM Subject: [Michlib-l] Charge for scanning? Our library is finding that more and more patrons use our copy machine to scan documents to email, and I’m beginning to wonder if this is a way to avoid fax charges. Are other libraries are experiencing this and if so are you charging for scans? Thanks for your feedback. Kay Hurd Director Almont District Library 213 W.
