ALA Digital Pathways Grants for Online Health Literacy Programs

Deadline: January 7, 2026

The American Library Association (ALA), in partnership with UnitedHealthcare, is offering a pilot program to help libraries expand online health literacy for adults. Twelve public, medical, or tribal libraries will be selected to receive a resource package, hands-on support, and an $8,000 stipend to implement programming over nine months.

Selected libraries will use the program guide to host at least three health literacy programs and participate in reporting and evaluation. The guide includes programming ideas, examples of successful and innovative library programs, and strategies to improve digital and eHealth literacy, telehealth access, and inclusive outreach. Grant funds can cover staff time, facilitators, tech devices, program materials, and publicity, but cannot be used for indirect administrative costs.
