I have replaced quite a few Vox books by transferring the soundbox and placing on regular copy of a book. Here’s how I do it:
I’ve never had a soundbox fall off or even really look uneven after doing this. Any excess foam tape has not been a problem due to the Scotty Peeler.
If the foam tape is strong enough to survive the peeler, than it is probably permanent. Once it’s saturated with Gorilla Glue---it isn’t falling off the book anytime soon.

Subject: [Michlib-l] Wonder/Vox book replacements
Hello libraryland,
A while back there was a discussion on Wonder and Vox books here on michlib, and I exchanged emails with a library that removes the soundbox from worn Wonderbooks and glues them onto replacement books.
I'm attempting it myself for the first time, and was wondering if anyone has done this and has any advice for me?
Namely, how do you get the foam adhesive off the soundbox once you've pried it from the book, and what kind of adhesive do you use to glue it to the new book?
Thanks,
