Matt Faulkner, the author and the illustrator of the children’s book “Groundhog’s Dilemma,” along with fun breakout sessions for children and adults, a ceremony for the winners of the writing contest, and a book signing

Exhibition reception with special guest speaker
Diane Muldrow, editorial director of Golden Books and author of “Everything Thing I Need to Know I Learned from a Little Golden Book”
• "Family Afternoon with Little Golden Books" event with activities for children in grades K-2.
Important 2017 dates to remember:
• Oct. 9 (Monday) is the first day of registration for the festival (highly recommended)
• Oct. 13 (Friday) is the deadline for writing contest entries
• Nov. 3 (Friday, 5:00 – 7:30 p.m.) is the reception for the “Golden Legacy” art exhibition; Berkowitz Gallery, located on the 3rd floor of the Mardigian Library
• Nov. 11 (Saturday, 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.) is the half-day festival in the Mardigian Library
• Nov. 18 (Saturday, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.) is the half-day family event in the Berkowitz Gallery
• Oct. 27 – Dec. 17 is the “Golden Legacy” art exhibition in the Berkowitz Gallery
A special grant from the Michigan Humanities Council (MHC), an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, is enabling us to expand the activities for this year’s YAF. The MHC’s mission “connects people and communities by fostering and creating quality cultural programs.”
