PressReader Status Update

12:35 am March 6, 2022

Hello Jim

As previously communicated, PressReader has experienced a cyber security incident that has resulted in a widespread disruption to our services. While the PressReader site and apps are back in working order, you may notice that some content is not current.

At this point, our Content Processing servers are back online and we are able to publish editions on apps, however we are still scaling this system to its full capacity and experiencing some image rendering issues on web which we are working to resolve shortly. To get your favorite publications available as fast as possible, we are prioritizing titles from Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and we’ll then process publications from the Americas and, finally, Asia.

Issues will be released with automated XML, with the manual review process to follow after release, once completed. Both text view and other interactive features such as text-to-speech and translation will be available. All this is to ensure timely delivery of the latest issues in each publication’s time zone, which is our highest priority now more than ever.

At this stage, we do not see any evidence that patron data has been compromised.

Additionally, our e-mail server is still unavailable. Currently, we aren’t able to monitor communications coming through any @pressreader.com address. However, communications sent to individual accounts using @online.pressreader.com domain are functional and actively monitored. You can also continue to reach our Libraries team members by filling out a request on our Contact Us page. We will also be updating our @PressReader and @PressReaderCare Twitter accounts.

Once again, thank you for your trust, patience and collaboration as we work hard to restore operations.

Sincerely,

PressReader Team
