This archives workshop is designed for participants who have some experience working with archival materials and have already gained a basic understanding of archival principals. Participants will learn advanced skills in how to rehouse a variety of items, including various ephemera and scrapbooks. The speaker will also go into greater detail in terms of cataloging large collections from a single donor and creating basic finding aids.

The Historical Society of Michigan is our state’s oldest cultural organization, founded in 1828 by territorial governor Lewis Cass and explorer Henry Schoolcraft. A nongovernmental nonprofit, the Society focuses on publications, conferences, education, awards and recognition programming, and support for local history organizations to preserve and promote Michigan’s rich history.
