Parliamentary Procedure and Running Effective Board Meetings (webinar)
what - the focus will be on how to run a successful meeting. We will provide a primer on parliamentary procedure to help attendees gain knowledge and understanding in order to attain a level of comfort in the basics of making motions and voting on the matters before them. Topics to be covered include: the difference between a motion and a resolution; the requirement of a roll call vote; the definition of a quorum and handling motions. We will also cover the basics of the Open Meetings Act, including notice, minutes, and public comment rules.

The three topics to be covered are (1) considerations when making decisions about compensation of library employees; (2) a review of challenges when completing performance reviews and sharing of how KDL has overcome many of these with a new method of managing performance called “the check-in process”; and (3) candidate employment assessments – history of success and the new tool developed by KDL for libraries of all sizes to use to add more science to the art of hiring staff.

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) - Understanding the law (webinar)
what - Has a patron brought a comfort animal into the Library?  Do you have spaces in your library that are not wheel chair accessible?  Have you ever been asked to make accommodations for people with disabilities at your programs?  These are ways in which the Americans With Disabilities Act affects libraries and library services.  This webinar will address common situations that arise for libraries including service animals and public accommodation.  We will discuss the requirements of the ADA and what libraries need to know to comply.
