Support and Training for Local Historical Organizations The Michigan History Alliance™ is a regionalized program that helps our member organizations preserve and promote history by fostering collaboration, sharing information and best practices, and providing training for their staff and volunteers. Easily register online on our website. The Alliance meetings take place in the morning and consist of a networking session and a featured speaker. Attendance at a Michigan History Alliance meeting is FREE of charge for current member organizations of HSM. The networking and collaboration portion allows for conversations among a region’s historical organizations, and the speaker will offer further insights on a topic of concern or opportunity. To further the educational experience of the Alliance meetings, a separate three-hour History Skills Workshop will be offered in the afternoon. Taught by authorities in the field, the History Skills Workshops provide in-depth training on such topics as exhibit design, collections management, fundraising and websites. There is a fee to attend the History Skills Workshops, which are open to members and nonmembers alike.
