The Neighborhood Library Association (NLA) is pleased to announce the selection of their 10th annual Community Reads book, Beautiful Music by Michael Zadoorian.  Set in the early 1970’s Detroit, a racially divided city still reeling from its violent riot of 1967, Beautiful Music is the story of one young man’s transformation through music.  After tragedy strikes the family, the young man finds his own reason to carry on: rock ‘n’ roll. In the vein of Nick Hornby and Tobias Wolff, yet with a style very much Zadoorian’s own, this 2018 Michigan Notable Book is a touching tale about the power of music and its ability to save one’s soul.

Each of the six NLA libraries will host book discussions and book-related events, culminating in an author visit at 7 PM Wednesday, November 13 at Novi Public Library. Doors open at 6:30 PM

Participating libraries are Lyon Township Public Library, Northville District Library, Novi Public Library, Salem-South Lyon District Library, Walled Lake City Library, and Wixom Public Library.
