New guidance recommends masking for:

 

People should be knowledgeable about the transmission level and infection rate within their community and be prepared to wear masks if the transmission rate increases.

 

The determination of masking is based on the community transmission, which is a combination of three metrics https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/science/community-levels.html :


People are still encouraged to make the masking decision that is right for them, their circumstances and their comfort level.
