are many great reasons to utilize the eResources found in the Michigan eLibrary,
but FREE access to eBooks is one of the best. Over 3,000 new titles have recently been added to the 5 eBook Collections in MeL. While there are new offerings for school-age children in the
K-8 and
High School eBook
Collections, the focus here is on the additions to the adult collections.
Over 2,000 eBooks published in 2020 have been added to the eBook Academic Collection. While there are some unique titles such as

Field Guide to Snow, there are also large additions in the following subject areas:

Using the keywords
equity
and education returns
13 new titles. Readers can explore equity as it pertains to gender in the medical
field, multicultural education in the field of science, or helping teachers develop LGBTQ awareness.

The keywords
climate
change and
global warming give patrons 49 new titles to investigate. Whether your
interest is related to agriculture, politics, environmentalism, sustainability, or the philosophy of nature, there is a new title waiting just for you.

Entering the terms
coronavirus
or covid-19
reveals
12 new titles, enlightening readers on the impact of student retention or economic
disobedience.
The eBook Business Collection added 359 new 2020 eBooks, highlighting great titles such as
Work
Better, Live Better: Motivation, Labor, and Management Ideology. Subjects that saw substantial additions:

The keyword
advertising
returns 18 new titles. Learn more about social media advertising, creating brands
and products that sell, or marketing leadership.

Included in your search using the term
corporate
are 49 new titles. In these eBooks are topics that speak to corporate change, governance,
strategy, and workplace.

The term
innovation
offers 45 new titles to readers. Food, technology, and economic impacts are all
topics that can be explored.
eBook Public Library Collection
The Public Library Collection saw over 900 new 2020 eBooks added in the past year. Some notable titles include
Mastering
the Flower Garden: A Gardener’s Guide to Growing Flowers, From Today’s Favorites to Unusual Varieties and
The
Urban Sketching Handbook Drawing with a Tablet: Easy Techniques for Mastering Digital Drawing on Location. Other topic areas added to the collection:

The keyword
cooking
garnered 52 new titles. In these you can find some scrumptious summer grilling ideas,
vegan recipes, and new Instant Pot miracles.

Entering the term
sport
brought back 65 new titles, featuring new sports biographies; college eSports; guides
to fantasy football, basketball, and baseball; and histories of the Olympic games.

One of the biggest areas for new eBook content was found using the keywords
career
or job or employment or occupation with
247 results. Careers in animation, social media, coding, graphic design, and plastic
surgery are highlighted as well as guides to finding and keeping good employees.
With titles added to these collections regularly, it is always good idea to check in to see what’s new.
