Adult Services: Paraprofessional
Position: Adult Services, Part-Time
Primary Duties: Under the supervision of the Library Director, provide services and programs for adults. Assist in the daily operation of the library as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Regularly works at the circulation and information desks to assist patrons
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and implement creative programs for adults
- Coordinate community outreach
- Promotes and advertises adult programs
- Maintains a budget for adult programs
- Plans and presents book clubs each month
- Plan Summer and Winter reading programs
- Participate and develop programs for Charlotte Celebrates, Frontier Day, and other community events
- Plan and develop library displays and display cabinet
- Develops and submit grants for adult programs
- Supervise delivery for homebound services
- Able to work evenings and weekends
Qualifications
- Minimum of HS degree or GED
- Earn a Library of Michigan certification within 3 years
- Able to attend workshops or conferences
- Familiar with library materials used by adult readers
- Windows PC and Microsoft Office knowledge
- Familiar with social media, including Facebook, Twitter, among others
Working Conditions
- Work in normal office conditions
- Physically able to push/pull fully loaded book cards, retrieve or place materials above the shoulder or below knee level and lift items up to 40 pounds
- Frequent sitting/standing in one position for extended periods
