I'm so sorry for the inconvenience to everyone-unfortunately, I did get the malware via an attachment from a place I knew and did receive legitimate attachments from regularly, but Laura's advice is good. My computer was infected with the malware-which has now been removed via Malwarebytes-but it spoofed my email address and used my contacts to send out the attachments. The email was never hacked, though I do recommend changing your password and using 2 factor authentication if you can. My virus scan was clear, but I recommend doing a scan for both viruses and malware if you're concerned. Again, I'm very sorry for the hassle.

Never open attachments that you aren't expecting, especially if they're from someone you don't know personally, and especially if they're weird and scammy sounding like these ones have been. If you opened one of these attachments, talk to your IT person immediately, and probably change your email password ASAP.

If these emails originated from your email account (Karen McKinnon, Julianne Kammer), you definitely need to talk to your IT people right away.

MCLS or whoever runs the listserv, is there something you all need to do to remove those email addresses?
