As of now, all of the Superior District libraries are open with power, with the exception of the Brevort Township Library in Moran. On Monday, for the first time since I came here over ten years ago, all eight of our libraries were closed because of this storm.

I want to extend our support to all of the libraries throughout the state who have been hit hard by this weather. We know many had it much worse than we did.

We have also had the bridge closed for most of the last three days because of falling ice, so books coming from up here are not able to get through to downstate and vice-versa. We appreciate everyone’s understanding, patience, and cooperation as we all are dealing with some awful situations without power and phones and internet and hot showers.

As another storm is moving in, the UP is facing food and fuel shortages now. Supportive words from many of you have been much appreciated.
