Hello, Library Land! On May 17th from 12 - 3pm the Garden City Public Library will be hosting a Punk Rock Saves Lives (PRSL) Marrow Donor Match event. Although PRSL has traditionally been at events that cater to musical genres such as punk and ska, they are always looking for ways to get more involved in communities. By hosting this event, we have the opportunity to spread awareness of the need for bone marrow donors to a greater swathe that increases the possibility of finding life-saving matches. www.PunkRockSavesLives.org has great info on all that PRSL does as well as information on how to get involved. They are a nationwide organization so feel free to share this information with anybody & everybody! The Michigan chapters are in Lansing and Southeast MIchigan. As a volunteer with PRSL myself, I can tell you that our people are passionate about helping the communities we live in with not only marrow matches, but many manners of harm reduction as well as community and mental health resources.
