From a customer/patron perspective I'll say that my two nieces were very excited to participate in the program in Clarkston. They love the services and programming at CIDL, and could not tell me enough about the coding program. It was so exciting to hear that CIDL had received the grant.

Hi Patty,
Clarkston Independence District Library was awarded the Google: Libraries Ready to Code grant in 2017 (the first library in Michigan!). Our Teen Librarian and IT Department worked hard developing several coding programs for middle and high school students. A great opportunity!

I heard about this, Scott. Any idea which other Michigan libraries are involved?

Subject: [Michlib-l] ALA/Grow with Google: Libraries Ready to Code
Hi everyone,
ALA and Google announced that they are collaborating on the Libraries Ready to Code initiative. I wanted to share this information with you because we’ve had great success with Grow with Google. Lansing was fortunate enough to be selected as a Grow with Google city in 2018. When they came here, CADL was one of the partnering organizations they worked with to bring digital skills training to students, teacher and business owners. We’ve used their curriculum and training plans for classes and have had great success.
If you have any questions about our experience with Grow with Google, feel free to reach out to me.
