March 18, 2025, 2:00pm-3:30pm - What Libraries should know about the Earned Sick Time Act (ESTA)

The new Earned Sick Time Act, or ESTA, went into effect on February 21, 2025. Libraries of all types are required to comply with the new sick leave provisions. Mike Blum, Employment and Labor Law attorney with Foster, Swift, Collins and Smith will provide information and tips for library directors and boards on navigating compliance with the new Earned Sick Time Act (ESTA).

Learning Outcomes:

• Participants will be able to identify what determines a small employer under ESTA, and whether their library falls under that definition.
• Participants will be able to identify ways in which ESTA differs from their existing policies on paid leave.
• Participants will be able to apply certain tips and criteria to assist with their leave policy decision making.
