Marketing Digital Services with a Smile Trenton Smiley, Marketing and Communications Director, Capital Area District Libraries Trenton is currently employing a marketing strategy at CADL that is successfully driving usage of its online services like hoopla, Overdrive, lynda.com and the new CADL App. His presentation will share ways to build a network of business and media alliances providing libraries of any size with the opportunity to extend their marketing reach and generate more exposure for their online services. Practical Solutions for Library Cybersecurity Sarah Neidert, Head of Automated Services, Brighton District Library Angie Michelini, Technology Services Manager, The Library Network Security is on the tip of tongues daily and libraries have a variety of information we must protect. How do we keep our libraries secure? How can you securely accept credit card payments from patrons? How do I assess how secure my library is? Would a security assessment give you peace of mind? Come and learn about how to make sure your library is secure. Technology for Patrons Melanie Bell, Network Administrator,Chelsea District Library Steve Saunders, Head of Information Technology, Orion Township Public Library Michael Shereda, Technology Specialist, Farmington Community Library This panel discussion will feature three speakers who will discuss their efforts to make current technologies available to patrons. The session will cover an array of technologies and methods of implementation. Melanie Bell will speak about the Chelsea District Library's implementation of a hotspot checkout program, including strategies, vendors and results. Steve Saunders will discuss the Orion Township Library's iPad lending services including hardware and software used, staff workflow and library policies. Lastly, Michael Shereda will discuss the Farmington Community Library's use of maker technology with patrons, including a Digital Conversion Station, Lego Robotics and Teen Coding events. Tech Talk: High Attraction Technology on Your Budget The final session of the day will feature a panel of library technology managers and specialists who will discuss current challenges providing appealing technology for patrons on a small budget and describe the approaches and solutions they are implementing in their libraries. Registration Forum check-in begins at 9 AM with the keynote speaker beginning at 9:30 AM. Continental breakfast , lunch and afternoon snack will be provided. This year we are offering sandwich and salad choices. Lunches will be provided by Lafayette Market. Registration fee is $30 per person . Please register early to ensure you are able to attend.
