Rural/Non-congregateMeal Service

For the summer of 2023, rural areas with no congregate meal service available may elect to operate a non-congregate meal service. Sponsors can determine if a site is eligible by looking at the county rural designation map or the county list located on the SFSP Resources webpage.

If you are interested in serving meals using the rural/non-congregate option, please email MDE-SFSP@michigan.gov. A member of the SFSP team will contact you to get information on the site(s) you are planning to use this option for and schedule a technical assistance call. All sponsors using this option will be required to complete a program integrity plan before meal service begins.
