Ecorse Public Library has been selected to host Michigan Notable Author, Paula Yoo! Yoo will speak about her title "From a Whisper to a Rallying Cry: The Killing of Vincent Chin and the Trial That Galvanized the Asian American Movement" (published by Norton Young Readers). This is a virtual event, so we hope you will join us on Zoom! The recommended age for this title is grades 8 and up.

Here is a brief description of the title: An engaging and well-researched non-fiction about the 1982 murder of Vincent Chin, a Chinese American man, beaten to death in Detroit at the hands of two white men, and the lenient sentence given to those who killed him. This murder and trial galvanized Asian-Americans to call for hate crime reforms.
