Hello!
The Guild of Library Makers is partnering with the Wilder Branch of the Detroit Public Library and the John F. Kennedy, Jr. Library in Dearborn Heights to host the first annual Summer Reading Button Exchange! Libraries and other organizations from all across Michigan are invited to make 50 buttons promoting summer reading and send them to us by April 24, 2026.
We'll mix all the buttons together and send mystery boxes and a collector's checklist back out to everyone who participates. This is the first year of the program and we're already off to a great start with libraries, museums, and other groups signing up from all over Michigan. It's a friendly way to promote community, reading, and spark some fun social media engagement with local libraries. Join us!
Signups are still open! If you know of any groups who might like to participate, please pass this along to them!
The complete guidelines and an FAQ are attached to this email and can also be found at this link:
We're updating the FAQ regularly, so please visit the live document for the most up-to-date information.
The entry form can be found here:
Please remember that this is a free, nonpartisan, community event. Any submissions that our volunteers feel cross over into political statements, campaigning, commercial advertisements, or that just isn’t kid friendly cannot be accepted. If that happens, we'll reach out to you to let you know and we’ll try to work with you to get a new button submitted before the deadline if there’s time.
The primary points of contact at GoLM for the Summer Reading Button Exchange are:

Thank you, and have a great week!
