Dear Michlib-L, Please join us online via Zoom on Tuesday, April 20 at 6:30pm for a discussion on the Copper Miners: Trials and Tribulations in 1913, as we host Author Donna Simons. She will discuss the 1913 copper mining labor strike in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and how it led to a tragedy on Christmas Eve that resulted in the deaths of 73 people, most of them children. Donna has published a novel, Copper Empire, which is set in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. She has a strong connection to the Copper Country because her grandmother was born and raised in Houghton and told her many stories of what life was like in that region.
