our team as the Teen Services & Technology Librarian. As a member of the Whitefish Bay Public Library staff, working closely with both Adult Services and Youth Services librarians, you will contribute to a positive, helpful, friendly, and inviting environment

We are a forward-thinking, suburban library rooted in a rich history in Milwaukee County. We are proud to be the #1 library in Milwaukee County for children’s materials circulation (per capita) and #2 for adult materials circulation (per capita). We made significant
strides in providing successful teen programming the last few years and are looking for someone who can build on, and expand from, that foundation.
You are a librarian with a passion for working with teens in grades 6-12 and an enthusiasm for technology. You will plan and coordinate teen programming and be responsible
for teen collection development. Additionally, you will provide reference services for adults, teens and children; help patrons use our digital and physical resources; and manage our technology.
The Teen Services & Technology Librarian will work to:
1)
develop and implement teen programs for our community, build and sustain relationships with community partners relevant to teen services, and collaborate
with other library staff for services to all age groups.
2)
maintain an inventory of hardware and software; plan for needed upgrades/changes and make recommendations; maintain technology at levels that provide
appropriate resources and functionality to patrons; install software upgrades regularly; plan and implement staff technology training and development; troubleshoot basic computers problems and refer problems to Village or MCFLS IT service.
Compensation:
Full-time. Salary. Exempt.
Beginning salary $40,000 - $43,000 commensurate with experience

GENERAL PURPOSE

Oversee technology used by the Whitefish Bay Public Library. Maintain technology at levels that provide appropriate resources and functionality to
patrons.
iii)
Maintain an inventory of hardware and software and install software upgrades regularly.
iv)
Troubleshoot basic computers problems for Whitefish Bay Public Library staff and refer problems to Village or MCFLS IT service.
a)
Maintain a commitment to continual learning to improve skills and professional knowledge through reading professional literature and attending local
training sessions and other opportunities as they arise.
b)
Participate in committees and attend meetings of professional organizations, such as Milwaukee County Federated Library System and Wisconsin Library
Association.
c)
Attend and participate in weekly Whitefish Bay Public Library Leadership Team meetings.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
a)
Required: Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school
b)
Preferred: 1-5 years’ experience in: 1) teen services; 2) technology management.
c)
Thorough knowledge of current library principles, materials, practices in technology and teen resources.
d)
Knowledge of cataloging, classifying and reference work.
e)
Considerable knowledge of authors, books and reader interests for teens.
f)
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
g)
Working knowledge of computer applications for library services, internet searching skills and ability to discern reliable website information.
h)
Ability to act as Librarian-in-Charge when needed.
i)
Ability to operate all items listed under Tools and Equipment.
j)
Ability to make independent judgements that have considerable impact on the Library.
Automated shared resource system (CountyCat), networked personal computer and peripherals, MS Office and other job related software, printers, copy machine, scanner, telephone,
paper cutter, laminator, elevator and carts.
