We currently require a parent's permission before youth under 18 may use computers with internet access in our library.  We are considering eliminating this requirement.

As we consider this change, we would welcome input from other libraries.  If you require permission, could you share your reasons?  If you've made the transition from requiring it to not requiring it, do you have any suggestions for facilitating the transition - e.g. communicating the change in policy so parents know their children are responsible for their own use/nonuse and the library is no longer restricting access?

Thank you,
