As a librarian and as a patron, I really like hoopla. The collection is different enough from overdrive that there isn’t a lot of overlap. There are tons of audiobooks and the per checkout price model is way easier to swallow. I also love that everything is available all the time. No holds is great.

We limit to 10 items per month. Prior to Covid, we had a five per month limit. While we were shut down, we bumped it up and have not returned to the lower limit. There are some power users who borrow the full 10, but the majority of users are much lower per month.

Subject: [Michlib-l] Hoopla

Dear Fellow Librarians,
My board is considering getting Hoopla for our patrons.   For those of you who have it - do you set a cap on patron loans?  Are you satisfied with Hoopla?
