The Plymouth District Library is honored to host Michigan Poet Laureate Nandi Comer for an author talk and poetry reading on Saturday, January 20th, 2024 at 2pm. Comer will be joined by Detroit-based poet Brittany Rogers, and the event will be supported by 27th Letter Books to sell copies of Comer's work.

Nandi Comer is the Poet Laureate of Michigan and the author of American Family: A Syndrome and Tapping Out, which was awarded the 2020 Society of Midland Authors Award and the 2020 Julie Suk Award. She is the co-director of Detroit Lit. Brittany Rogers is a poet, mother, educator, and native Detroiter. She has work published or forthcoming in Mississippi Review, The Metro Times, The Offing, Obsidian: Literature & Arts in the African Diaspora, and Oprah Daily. Her work has been anthologized in The BreakBeat Poets Vol. 2: Black Girl Magic and Best of the Net. She is Editor-in-Chief for Muzzle Magazine and co-host of Poetry Foundation’s VS Podcast.
