November 28 is Giving Tuesday. Remember to support the Historical Society of Michigan Donate through our Facebook page! As a nongovernmental nonprofit, we rely on private donations, memberships, and subscriptions to pay for everything we do, including the production of our flagship publication Donate through our Facebook page! Did you know? If you contribute online to the Historical Society of Michigan through Facebook’s donate button starting at 8 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on November 28, your gift could be DOUBLED because the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will match it! The Gates Foundation has pledged to match up to $2 million worth of donations given on 11/28/17 starting at 8 a.m., and Facebook is waiving all transaction fees for that day, so 100% of your gift will go to supporting the Society so we can keep bringing you great Michigan stories. Not a Facebook user? That’s okay! You can still donate though our website or by calling (800) 692-1828. Your support makes it possible for us to produce high-quality publications, such as Chronicle, the membership publication of the Historical Society of Michigan; provide training and resources for local historical organizations; and facilitate Michigan History Day, a program that engages Michigan students from every area of the state to compete and gain recognition in local, regional, state, and national competitions for historical projects. Won’t you help us keep our Michigan history-related activities going and growing? Please consider making a special contribution to HSM as we gear up for our next fiscal year and make plans for new and exciting projects.
