If you work in a library system that has a staffing structure where 'desk staff' work in multiple departments or at multiple service point types, I'm very interested in learning more about how that works for you. I am NOT looking for staffing structures with
multiple branches where staff are scheduled to perform the same tasks but at different branches.
Since Covid we've been experiencing quite a lot of turnover. At this moment in time we have a very green staff. I'm hearing from my department managers that many are feeling very overwhelmed by the training involved in onboarding new staff. It has made me curious
about rethinking onboarding processes and/or considering new options for staffing - especially at service desks.
Curious about what other staffing models are out there in library land, and how they are (or are not) working in your organization.
We're a Class 5 library with one main library of significant size.
