We are handling ours the same as Albion, for all the same reasons.   With that being said, I am meeting with our Friends of the Library President today (outside in a park) to discuss some ideas they had brainstormed a couple of weeks ago (considering a potential outside sale since their annual book sale was also cancelled back in April).

One additional note.... all of our volunteers had to sign an agreement that they have received a copy of our reopening policies and have watched the videos about proper use of PPE, cleaning, etc., since they are in the building like staff are... we wanted to make sure they agreed to comply with all of our new policies and procedures while working a volunteer shift...

We only have one big book sale each year during our community's festival, which has been canceled this year.  For right now, we're not accepting donations as we don't want to overrun our limited staff, volunteers, and storage space.  We hope to open it back up in a few months with a potential book sale event in the fall.

Hi everyone,

I have a couple of questions in regards to what other libraries are doing with their FOL groups and donations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Are you currently accepting FOL donations?  If so how are you doing it to keep staff and FOL volunteers safe?
  • Are you letting FOL volunteers work in the library?  Do you restrict them to a certain area or amount of time in the building?
  • Are you currently selling donated items?
Any help is appreciated, thanks!
