June 11th - Save the date!
We want to make sure all of our Michigan Library friends receive an invite to attend a special national book tour launch event for Dave Eggers' hotly anticipated new book Contrapposto.
CONTRAPPOSTO is a sweeping novel about friendship, love, and the lifelong pursuit of art.
Set in the art world and nearly twenty years in development, the novel follows two artists across six decades as they navigate creative partnership, romance, ambition, and the pressures of the art market.
The book spans the globe and explores the meaning of artistic devotion and long-term collaboration.
This is Eggers’ first adult novel in five years and is being positioned as his strongest work to date.
A bold statement to be sure, but we are excited to have built this event in collaboration, very fittingly with the Toledo Museum of Art and Live Arts Toledo, and where better to host an event that features art and art history threading through the characters' lives and narrative, than at the Toledo Museum of Art in the gorgeous Peristyle?!
This event also features (and celebrates) Michigan in various aspects - with our interviewer being none other than Ann Arbor's Amanda Uhle (herself the renowned publisher and manager of McSweeney's, as well as the author of the stellar recent memoir Destroy This House) - see also below.
Please feel free to share with anyone as you please. If you'd like any more info or have any questions, please reach out!
We'd love to include you!
