
PUBLIC LIBRARIES OF SAGINAW Job Posting Library Assistant - Part-time - 25 hours per week Outreach and Adult Reference Posting Date: Wednesday, August 21, 2019 Application Deadline: Wednesday, September 4, 2019 The Public Libraries of Saginaw is seeking an outgoing, people-oriented, enthusiastic individual to assist with outreach and community library services while ensuring positive customer service and quality interactions. Duties and responsibilities include: * Formulate goals and plans for implementing outreach services * Present programs and presentations in a variety of venues * Maintains outreach records/statistics and prepares reports * Selects books, materials and equipment needed for outreach * Delivers community outreach services at senior citizen facilities, businesses, festivals, parades and other organizations * Conducts off-site library card registration * Provides library materials to designated facilities and locations * Answering reference questions in person and on the telephone * Providing reader's advisory services * Instructing patrons in the use of digital books and magazines * Other duties as assigned Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office is required. Knowledge of library procedures, excellent public service skills and experience using Internet resources and Horizon are a plus. Must have a flexible schedule - Saturday and evening work is required. Ability to work well with other staff and patrons, and good communication skills are important. Minimum requirements include a four-year college degree with applicable library experience. This position pays an hourly rate of $17.80 - $22.44 in six annual steps. Benefits include pro-rated vacation, sick leave and personal business time.
