Join us for insight and discussion with leaders from state, public, academic, and school libraries on the continued efforts and strategies to reopen library facilities across the country. Attendees will benefit from hearing about preliminary results from the recent national “Libraries Respond: COVID-19 Survey,” and have the opportunity to ask questions and compare and contrast planning and guidance across the range of library types to inform your own robust planning and services responses.

The Executive Board of the American Library Association (ALA) stands with the Black Caucus of the American Library Association (BCALA) in condemning violence and racism towards Black people and all People of Color.
The ALA Executive Board endorses BCALA’s May 28 statement, in which the caucus decries the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis Police Department officers and cites Floyd’s death as “the latest in a long line of recent and historical violence against Black people in the United States.” Read more

PLA’s COVID-19 webinar series highlights need for sharing, new ideas
The Public Library Association (PLA) recently wrapped up its free webinar series, Public Libraries Respond to COVID-19, which included six webinars that took place between March 26 and April 23, 2020. The webinars covered topics of immediate need to the field, such as addressing the digital divide, managing anxiety, and responding to community needs through innovative solutions and services. More than 9,000 public library professionals registered for the series. Read more
AASL partners with StoryCorps to launch StoryCorps Connect and bring individuals together
The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) is partnering with StoryCorps to launch StoryCorps Connect. The new free platform allows Americans to conduct and record StoryCorps interviews remotely. AASL encourages school librarians to utilize the technology to support learners in connecting with others amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and, in the process, to contribute to the creation of a unique first-person historical record of this unprecedented crisis.
