If you are looking for additional resources to help school aged children learn about financial literacy take a look at the program below provided by the Michigan Department of Treasury.

The Michigan Department of Treasury’s Student Financial Services Bureau will be distributing a free educational video game and classroom curriculum called Financial Football to all public libraries in the state.  The department hopes to have these delivered to libraries by the end of next week.  The program has previously been only distributed to public schools but will now include public libraries as well as Boys & Girls Clubs.  For more information on the program, please read below.

On Wednesday February 4, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the NFL YET Boys & Girls Club in Detroit, Lions tight end Eric Ebron will join Michigan Treasurer Kevin Clinton, the Michigan Jump$tart Coalition and Visa Inc. in the Wolverine State to tackle head on the issue of financial literacy improvement among Michigan’s youth. They will announce an expansion of the statewide effort to improve the money management skills of high school and middle school students with Financial Football, a free educational video game and classroom curriculum developed by Visa Inc.

The game, already distributed by the Treasurer’s office to every public middle school and high school in Michigan will now, for the first time in any state, be distributed by the Student Financial Services Bureau within the Michigan Department of Treasury, to every public library and Boys & Girls Club statewide. Jump$tart and Visa are working with the state treasurer to share the financial information and skills with students.
