We are now hiring a library clerk at Otsego District Library for a start date of early January. JOB DESCRIPTION: LIBRARY CLERK Hourly: Approx. 18 hrs/wk, $9/hr This position is for AFTERNOONS/EVENINGS and SATURDAYS Supervised by Library Director & Assistant Director POSITION POSTING November 18 - December 11 INTERVIEWS will be held the week of December 14 for early January start date Duties and Responsibilities: o Teaches basic computer classes o Assists in processing materials o Assists with weeding and deleting items o Assists with reserves o Checks in materials o Supervises library pages o Waits on patrons at the circulation/reference desk o Provides reference help to patrons at the desk and on the phone o Assists patrons with computer and software issues o Performs other tasks as assigned by a supervisor Tasks: * Shelves materials when necessary, stocks displays * Evaluates condition of materials upon check-in o Answers patron questions in person and on the telephone * Maintain professional behavior appropriate to a public setting * Maintain library confidentiality regarding patron records * Other duties as assigned Necessary skills and abilities: o Previous library experience is highly preferred. o College experience is highly desirable. o This position requires a friendly and helpful personality * Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing * Ability to deal appropriately with the public * Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately and efficiently * Ability to operate a cash register, copy machine, fax machine, and laminator * Basic computer skills necessary: Windows operating system: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft PowerPoint, Verso/Autographics (library catalog), PCCop (time management software), and Print Management software, ability to navigate and copy/paste from the internet, email, and assist patrons with basic internet use o Ability to work independently and establish effective priorities Application instructions can be found at www.otsegolibrary.org <http://www.otsegolibrary.org> Thanks for considering!
