Hello!
This past week, RTDL welcomed Thomas Henthorn and students from the University of Michigan-Flint Department of History for a historic preservation program at the Redford Cemetery.
During this four hour program, participants were instructed in proper care, cleaning, and repair of grave monuments.  We discussed geology, history, art, and engineering through the course of the day.  This program was made possible by the Wyatt Endowment at the University of Michigan-Flint.
Our library was able to work closely with our local historical commission and local chapter of The Daughters of the American Revolution to host this program.
I cannot say enough about this event; the camaraderie, the education, the service to our community. Participants left the event with resources and skills to clean historic monuments on their own.
If your community is interested in this project, please contact Thomas Henthorn at henthorn@umich.edu
