We are 72 days from a total eclipse! (in totality approx. 3:13pm ET<https://eclipse2024.org/eclipse_cities/states.php?type=total&state=Michigan&country=USA> for parts of Michigan, while the rest of us range around 96% totality) Nearly 6 million solar eclipse glasses have been distributed to libraries across the nation, thanks to funding from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, the Space Science Institute, through its Solar Eclipse Activities for Libraries (SEAL) program<https://www.starnetlibraries.org/about/our-projects/solar-eclipse-activities-libraries-seal/>. (Requests for solar eclipse glasses have now closed.) If you have not already begun planning programming for (or leading up to) April 8th, please check out their website for some fun & easy eclipse activities<https://clearinghouse.starnetlibraries.org/180-solar-eclipse-activities-for-libraries> as well as their entire SEAL booklet<https://www.starnetlibraries.org/2020/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/SEAL-booklet-web-2.pdf> full of great tips and ideas. The Library of Michigan's circulating SEAL kits<https://www.michigan.gov/libraryofmichigan/libraries/kitkeeper> are currently on hold for the date of the event, but there is additional availability before and after, for all your STEM programming needs. There are also some flyers and social media resources on SEAL's graphics site<https://community.starnetlibraries.org/graphics-flyers-and-illustrations-for-the-seal-project/>. Please remember to encourage safe solar eclipse viewing<https://eclipse.aas.org/eye-safety> and have fun! Enjoy, Cathy Lancaster Youth Services Coordinator Library of Michigan 702 W.
