Do you enjoy helping others with challenging tasks? If so, then Kalamazoo Valley Community College may have the ideal part-time position for you.

This position works as part of a customer service team focusing on helping students do college-level research and writing and helps with other library tasks. This position provides support to the Reference Librarians, teaching and assisting students in the use of 80+ research databases, assisting patrons with computer hardware/software questions, and troubleshooting computer printer and copier issues. This position also assists the Serials and Reference Supervisor with clerical support and serials collections.

Other duties include:

• Circulation and shelving of library materials.
• Staffing the upper and lower level library service desks.
• Assisting in the supervision of the Reserve Desk, including the circulation of reserve materials.
• Assisting users with library technology including copiers, scanners, computers and printers.
• Assisting users with library resources, including physical and electronic collections.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet software is required.

Candidates must be customer-service driven with excellent oral and written communication skills.

Prior library work experience and knowledge of library practices and procedures is preferred.

A minimum of two years post-secondary education is preferred.

Bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods of time.

Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
