Researching Underground Railroads at the Library of Michigan Saturday, April 11th, 10 - 1:30 10 - 10:50, Lansing based researcher, Jesse Lasorda, "Underground Railroad Leads" Local area researcher, Jesse Lasorda will discuss lesser known Lansing area locations of potential interest to those studying the Underground Railroad in Michigan 11 - 11:50, Underground Railroad researcher and author, Carol Mull, "UGRR in MI from Slavery to Freedom" Carol Mull is the author of the book, The Underground Railroad in Michigan and has spent her career researching, documenting and teaching the topic in the state of Michigan. In this session, Carol will explain the key variables that made Michigan a hotbed for abolitionist and those escaping captivity. 12 - 12:50, "Researching the Underground Railroad", Carol Mull Underground means difficult and in this session Carol will go over the key resources, why they are important and where they may be obtained. 1 - 1:30, "Beginning Your Research in the Library of Michigan", Edwina Murphy Edwina Murphy is the Michigan Collection Curator at the Library of Michigan. All new research begins with a lead and in this session participants will learn about the resources available in the Library of Michigan.
