We invite you to an upcoming hybrid history presentation by renowned genealogist Katherine R. Willson, on the topic of: The Link Between Anti-Immigration Sentiment, Prohibition, The Mafia, and the U.S. Border Patrol.

Description: Early 20th century America was a time of significant social and political change, with anti-immigration sentiment heavily influencing legislative actions. Anti-German sentiment from World War I played a significant role in the passage of Prohibition, leading to a rise in illegal smuggling of alcohol into the U.S. by large criminal syndicates. U.S. border agencies were then required to shift their focus from revenue collection to maintaining control at the borders. This 1-hour presentation (with accompanying handout) explores the links between anti-immigrant sentiment, prohibition, the mafia, and U.S. Border Patrol. A Q&A session will follow the presentation.
