The Alpena County George N. Fletcher Public Library Board of Trustees is delighted to announce they have selected a new director to lead the library into its next chapter. Debra Greenacre, currently the Executive Director of the Manistee County Library, will be taking the helm beginning June 15, 2023. Debra has 20 years of experience as a librarian, with 11 of those years serving in a director capacity. Board of Trustees President Joseph Garber shared, “I am very pleased and excited with the hiring of Debra Greenacre as Library Director. Debra has all of the qualifications, experience, and skills needed to lead and manage our Library. Debra has great vision and ideas to keep the Library moving forward to provide quality programming and a collection that will meet the needs of all our patrons.” When discussing the transition with Greenacre, she said, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join the dedicated team at Alpena County George N. Fletcher Public Library as the Library Director. I look forward to moving to Alpena and connecting with the community." The search for a new library director was extensive and thorough, being facilitated by library human resources consultant, Brian Mortimore SPHR, of Mortimore Consulting, LLC.
