Librarian, Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, MI
The
Eastern Michigan University Library invites applications for a tenure-track
position of Collections Librarian; the appointment will be at the rank of
Assistant Professor and start in fall 2016. This position is an 8-month
academic year appointment, with an additional summer appointment possible.
Operating in a collegial team environment, the
Collections Librarian guides collection policies, selection activities and
de-selection and retention projects, assists the Department Head with
negotiations of pricing and interpretation of license and contracts for library
resources. He/she undertakes quantitative and qualitative assessment to improve
collections in support of the university’s priorities and prepares reports
related to collections relevant to documenting the library’s value on campus
and to accreditation assessment and budget advocacy.
Required Qualifications:

ALA-accredited
Master’s degree in library or information science (or foreign
equivalent)
·
Five years minimum professional experience
·
Experience in collection development, acquisitions,
or electronic resource licensing and management
·
Fluency with use of spreadsheets
and other tools to organize and present data, statistics, and analysis for use
in decision-making
The
Collections Librarian must meet departmental and university tenure and
promotion standards for fulfillment of professional responsibilities,
scholarship and service.
