
Position Title: Substitute Librarian Reports to: Adult and Youth Services Coordinators Hours: As needed, including evenings and weekends $15.00/hr. for candidates enrolled in an ALA-accredited Master’s Program $18.00/hr. for Master’s Degree from ALA-accredited library science program Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Adult and Youth Coordinator, Substitute Librarians are responsible for providing professional library services to Auburn Hills Public Library users of all ages. Average shifts vary from four to six hours, based on need. Primary Duties: * Serve as reference and readers advisory to library users in-person or by phone * Assist with computer users, including put not limited to; printing, opening programs, etc. * Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications/Skills: * Must have a Bachelor’s Degree from accredited institution * One year experience in public libraries preferred * Flexibility and dependability * Ability to work with users of varied backgrounds * Computer application proficiency, including Microsoft Office and Internet * Excellent verbal and written communication skills Essential Physical Functions: * Ability to lift and carry boxes up to 25 lbs. and push carts weighing up to 200 lbs. * Ability to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time, and the ability to bend, reach, and stoop when assisting library users.
