Author Mark Binelli will be at the Novi Public Library on Thursday, November 14 at 7 pm to discuss his book "Detroit City Is the Place to Be: The Afterlife of an American Metropolis". The book is a compelling biography of a city as well as a profound commentary on postindustrial America. Binelli was raised in the Detroit area, and is currently a contributing editor for "Rolling Stone" magazine. Binelli provides a tour through Detroit, from Henry Ford's auto and steel boom and the race riots of the 1960s and early 1970s, to the dark ages of widespread crack addiction and the current resurgence led by enterprising idealists, urban farmers and do-it-yourself go-getters. His presentation is sure to be enlightening.
