We want to ensure everything in your shipment is just right for you—so please don't wait until May to unpack your boxes!
Make it a priority to unpack and check all items as soon as they arrive.
Our warehouse team packs efficiently, which means those posters might be tucked between stands or signs. Be sure to:
Inspect all nooks and crannies for smaller items.
Count bulk items to confirm you received the correct quantities.
Allow staff to try on shirts ahead of time to ensure they fit comfortably.
If you notice any issues, acting promptly helps us resolve them quickly. Keep in mind that items can sell out, and we’d
hate to disappoint you!

“Only you can prevent forest fires”. A well-known slogan from an iconic bear! Smokey Bear has been educating Americans since 1944 about wildfire prevention. Celebrating
80 years, Smokey Bear continues to be the longest running public service announcement campaign in the U.S.
In celebration of Smokey Bear’s 80th Birthday, the Hillside Public Library community learned how to prevent wildfires and help the environment by participating in the
Smokey Bear Reading Challenge! Hillside Public Library patrons were invited to join the nationwide reading challenge throughout October and November in the Children’s Department. Several displays exhibiting books on wildfire prevention, forest conservation
and natural resource careers were dispersed throughout the Children’s Room, as well as thematic posters and incentives of all shapes and sizes!
Patrons were able to set up camp and share a book in the pitched Smokey Bear’s Reading Tent, complete with a “life”-sized cardboard cutout of Smokey Bear himself in his
favorite outfit (personalized ranger hat, blue jeans, belt, and his trusty shovel!), and Smokey-approved safe campfire and log pillow! Other displays featured our Smokey Bear Reading Club Bulletin Board and a Smokey Bear Trivia board with answers hidden under
lift-the-flap ranger hats! Patrons who entered the Reading Challenge had bears personalized with their names that were hung up on our community Reading Club Bulletin Board. Any patron who completed the Smokey Bear Reading Challenge received forest themed incentives
and was entered in the Smokey Birthday Bash Raffle!
Another exciting addition to the Smokey Bear celebration was the Smokey Bear Reading Challenge Scavenger Hunt! Patrons went on a word hunt that spanned the entire Children’s
Room, to solve riddles and decode the secret phrase: “Only You Can Prevent Wildfires.”
The Hillside Public Library is proud to have participated in celebrating this renowned American symbol.
