Hi everyone, 

Thank you to those that replied to my post about different POS systems. Here is the info I received: 

  1. Comprise sells POS systems - it interacts with SAM.

  2. We have been using a Square system.  Purchased the Square cash register and scanners.  It has worked extremely well and allows us to accept payment in many forms.  Low transaction fees for card use.

  3. We currently have an old cash register.

    • Which company do you use?
      • Smart Money Manager by Comprise
    • Is there an annual fee, a set up fee, or both?
      • Yes - set up fee and annual maintenance both
    • Does it integrate easily into your ILS?
      • Fairly easily, yes, as far as real-time updating integration – but the SMM client is a separate application from the ILS so you need to do transactions in SMM then go back to ILS for checkouts, but after training that has not been a big deal
    • Is it user-friendly?
      • It’s fairly user-friendly for the staff to use, yes.  Our biggest complaint from staff is that it forces password reset every 90 days and it enforces complex password rules, which I believe is necessary for the software to be PCI compliant.  I will say that we’ve had some issues with the database not aligning with reports and have had to get their support involved on a few occasions, that’s been our main issue with it, THAT issue has not been user friendly for our accountant.
