At the Kalamazoo Public Library patrons are unable to check out if they owe more than $10.00 in fines and/or fees. We bill for replacement costs at 45 days overdue. If that brings the bill to $45.00 or higher (either for fines, bills or a combination of both), the patron is referred to collections. On the other hand, we do not restrict computer access for patrons regardless of amount owed. Patron accounts exceeding $35 resulting from billed materials (a portion can include late fees) overdue more than 45 days will be turned over to a collection agency. If the patron’s account has reached $40.00 in late fees (Patron will not go to collections).
