Position Title:  Coordinator of Reference Services and Emerging Technologies Librarian

Department:  John W. Anderson Library

 

Reports to:  Dean of Library Services

 

Indiana University Northwest John W. Anderson Library invites qualified applicants to apply for Coordinator of Reference Services and Emerging Technologies Librarian.  This is a 12-month faculty position and qualified applicants will be hired at either the Assistant or Associate rank.  The John W. Anderson Library serves a diverse population and is seeking applicants with excellent communication skills, previous reference experience, and the ability to work well with a diverse population.  The John W. Anderson Library serves undergraduate and graduate students and also Indiana residents.   Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

 

Responsibilities/Duties

  1. Provide reference services to students, faculty, staff, and community residents
  2. Coordinate reference activities by: scheduling reference, training, assessing, and supervising full and part-time reference staff; and holding monthly reference meetings
  3. Work the reference desk at least one night a week
  4. Coordinate the selection of and subscriptions to publications/databases for the reference collection
  5. Help lead the Library’s marketing and outreach to students, faculty, and community through social media, other online endeavors, grant-seeking and fundraising initiatives
  6. Serve as an Instruction Librarian, teaching information literacy and creating online tools and LibGuides to teach research skills
  7. Work with classroom faculty on collection development for journal and monograph selections and reference faculty on the reference collection
  8. Help supervise the Library in the absence of the Dean of Library Services; participate in Library Management Council meetings and decision-making
